Ahimsa Govender is a motivated individual who journeyed to India to rediscover her roots. Walking in the spirit of service, her daily commitment to understand, recognize, and catalyze change is the reason she decided to join the 2010 fellowship class. Ahimsa graduated from Michigan State University in May of 2010 with a double major in Economics and Health Studies. Based in Sarasawadi, Gujarat, her project focused on spreading awareness on health issues in the local village. She felt extremely privileged to be a part of the Indicorps Fellowship, and hopes to promote the community-wide adoption of basic yet important pro-health practices throughout her time in India.
